Some time ago I decided I wanted to create a game about a small adventure

The basic idea is as follows:

You are crewmate onboard of a pirate ship which has beached on an unknown deserted island. You have been ordered by your captain to find and save your crewmates who went into the jungle to gather materials for the ship

Through the course of the game you will be collecting pieces of maps that will help you navigate the world and also lead you to treasure and secrets. Your maps will be incomplete and you will have to draw on your own to fill the gaps. You may also find mysterious carvings and figures on walls. It is important that the player is incouraged to draw, scribble and make notes outside of the game to solve puzzles.

The desired outcome is that the player gains a sense of mastery and accomplishment. Something perhaps physical (map+notes) they can look back at after finishing the game, that to others would look like nonsense. And also to encourage replayability if they skipped or didn't find all the secrets.
